AASECT Certified Sex Therapists are licensed mental health professionals trained with a special emphasis in treating clients with sexual issues and concerns.
Unlike traditional family and marriage counselors, AASECT certified sex therapists have had extensive study specific to the biological and psychological aspects of sexuality in order to help clients with their sexual health and pleasure.

Certification by American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists stresses a strong ethical code and training in specific areas including:

AASECT Sex Therapist’s Experience

The AASECT Certification of a sex therapist, is more than a title after their name. It is an assurance for you, the client, that you are receiving the highest level of expertise and knowledge to best help you with your sexual and romantic difficulties.

To become AASECT Certified therapist have to complete extensive specialized training and education in area of human sexuality and relationships. In addition to the education, sex therapists complete 300 hours of supervision with an AASECT approved supervisor. This is in addition to the professional training needed to become a licensed therapist.

In addition to the training, becoming AASECT Certified also means we pledge to abide to their high standards of practice. AASECT requires that we are updated to the research and changes in the sexual health field and maintain our expertise as sexual health professionals. AASECT also maintains the ethical behavior as a sex therapist.
