We’ve talked before about how creating balance in your body can help you become a true tantric – the intermarriage of the feminine and masculine energies within all of us. One variable that can impact this balance within your body is your heart chakra.

The energies in your body flow in opposite directions, but everything meets at your heart. It’s important to make sure this chakra isn’t blocked, or you may see everything from your love life and mental health be impacted negatively.

What is the heart chakra?

The heart chakra (Anahata) is located exactly where you would think, in the chest. This chakra can impact your lungs, heart, and shoulders and is related to healing, self-acceptance, relationships, and love.

Is your heart chakra blocked?

When your heart chakra is blocked, you may see yourself feeling needy in your relationships while simultaneously unable to give love the same way you had before.

Even if you haven’t experienced a real change in your relationship, a blocked heart chakra can create a sense of loneliness and a lack of emotional connection with those around you. These feelings can lead to disconnected intimacy and sex with your partner.

How can you open your heart chakra?

If your heart chakra is blocked, there is no need to panic. Here are a few simple things you can do to help release the tension and invite love back into your life.

  1. Partnered Meditation: Partnered meditation is about being present and exchanging energy with your partner. This practice can relieve tension and enhance arousal. Learn more about creating a safe space for this practice here.
  2. Affirmations: Stating affirmations daily can help open your heart chakra. Choose affirmations that are focused on clearing the negative energy you’re feeling in your body. For example, if you’re feeling lonely you could say, “I am wanted and loved.” If you are feeling closed off from your partner you can say, “I am worthy of love.” Repeat your phrase daily to remind yourself that you are loved.
  3. Heart Opening Yoga Poses: Your body may be outwardly showing signs you’re closed off from love through hunched shoulders and crossed arms. Adding heart openers to your daily routine can help release tension and welcome positive energy. Check out six simple heart openers here.
  4. Acts of Kindness: Giving to others can also remove the blockage of your heart chakra. Try volunteering your time or even going the extra mile to help your partner. Openingyour heart to others can create additional space to love yourself.

Once you have opened your heart chakra again, you will feel more connected with your partner. Removing these blockages will leave space for deeper, more passionate sex.
